Mountain Climbing and Running

Image
I was invited by some family friends to go to the Odani Castle Ruins on the last day of the three day weekend. We were planning on driving to the top of the mountain to see the ruins but because of the holiday the road was closed. We didn’t put much thought into it and decided to climb the mountain from the bottom. It was a big mistake haha After climbing my legs were blown out and completely tired so I went to Coach Kawamura for help haha With his help my leg muscles could relax and each step was much lighter than before. While I was there I asked Coach some questions. “What’s the easiest way to climb?” “How do you reduce stress to your knees when going down the mountain?” But without fail Coach answered my questions. The key point seems to be keeping a loose hip joint. He showed me the difference between people who climb stairs with ease and those who don’t. I think I’ll even start enjoying climbing stairs now.   While we were training Coach Kawamura showed me a video of Yoshin...

Health Starts At The Feet

Image
The other day as I was training with Coach Kawamura and stretching with one leg stretched back he asked me a question. Coach:  When you stretch back you can feel your glutes contract right? Kobayashi: No! I can’t feel anything at all! Coach: Really?! Kobayashi: Like this? Coach: That is using your hamstrings not your glutes. Hold on. Mr. Kobayashi, have we ever measured your feet? Let’s check real quick!   So we measured my feet. Ever since I was in high school I have always worn shoes that were 26cm or 26.5cm. But my actual foot size was 2E 24.5cm!! That means that my feet are almost the same size as Coach Kawamura’s! So this conversation with Coach Kawamura started me on my shoe journey. I tried on some of Coach Kawamura’s shoes and compared to the shoes I have worn up until now they are so much easier to walk in. I would say that I’m a fan of sneakers. Anytime I found a pair that I really liked I would buy them and add them to my collection. Almost a...

Kitchen and Household Work

Image
I asked my friend Mr. Takemura to become an official T-foot ambassador. He generously accepted and wondered if T-foot sandals could help his wife. She has said in the past that standing for long periods of time in the kitchen was painful. He also wondered if they could help his child who often falls down. I can’t do much to help so I took them to Coach Kawamura’s gym. First, Coach Kawamura had Mrs. Takemura stand up against the mirror. Coach Kawamura was able to find the cause of the pain being that Mrs. Takemura has a tendency to put her weight on the outside of the ankle. She had thought this pain was just the cold! Next, after feeling and confirming the condition of Mrs. Takemura’s feet, Coach Kawamura started the balance test. Coach Kawamura gave advice on ways to use Ipponba-geta in daily life. He also explained the cause of foot fatigue and the proper posture to reduce pain. Finally, Coach Kawamura checked Mrs. Takemura’s posture while walking and running. I took advantage of thi...

T-Foot T-Shirt

Image
Today the shirts that our member Yoshinobu prepared for us came in. So, we called in our model Isaac and wore our T-Foot T-shirts while training.   The T-shirt is a perfect fit for Isaac.  I think it’s a great fit! The balance test, which is starting to become a classic routine, began. Isaac, who was wearing ipponba-geta just a few moments earlier, had now completely engaged his core muscles ”It's like magic." Kawamura Coach explained why it’s so much easier to keep balance.  Next, Coach Kawamura had Isaac start walking in place. It seemed to be no problem for him.  After walking for a bit Coach Kawamura had Isaac walk without the sandals to see if the feeling in his stride had changed.  ”My feet feel lighter." "It feels like my heel is rounder." I was surprised at Isaac’s superb expressions while also learning a lot from Coach Kawamura today. After training I went to eat the delicious curry udon at Ichibei in Nagahama. And just as I suspected, I ended up g...

Skateboard & Snowboard

Image
A few days ago a customer who skateboards and snowboards came for a training session with Coach Kawamura. This customer is an old friend of Kobayashi and has been snowboarding for over 20 years. First, Mr. Kawamura explains how to wear and various movements used in training. Coach Kawamura checks to see where the customer’s center of gravity is, as well as other fine details. Once the customer was used to wearing the sandals, he checked how she walked. The customer was using too much force to walk so Coach Kawamura gave some advice. For skateboarding, snowboarding and surfing there are many issues to deal with, such as placement of feet on the board, how that placement affects balance, how to use the least amount of muscle as possible and whether or not the rider is making effective use of their core muscles while riding. Proficient skateboarders and snowboarders usually have good posture and a slim build with no unneeded muscle. Their biggest advantage is that they know where to balan...

Jump Rope With Ipponba-geta ?!

Image
While wearing the new T-FOOT prototype sandal, Coach Kawamura said "I want to try to jump rope !" "These are great for developing a feeling for bounce !" So the Coach Kawamura one man jump rope competition began. First with a light skip. Then a crossover. Things started to get heated with a double under. The look of a true competitor. He is trying his best for a triple under 😆 Wearing ipponba-geta during normal exercises like jump rope and stretches can make them feel completely new and fresh, thus increasing the quality of training. Method to Improving Posture

Image
This time let's follow Coach Kawamura's approach to improving posture. First, check posture Checking the right leg As well as the left leg After wearing ipponba-geta, posture is checked again Strating off with the core check. Today's talks started off with the controversy of whether balance should be placed 50:50 over each leg, using the left and right leg as an axis in sports like soccer and baseball as well as the advantages of being left or right handed and how that changes how plays proceed. It was all very interesting. Kobayashi

Coach Kawamura's Ipponba Geta Lecture

Image
Recently Coach Kawamura held a lecture for T-FOOT members. Each member listed out some of their problem areas and Mr.Kawamura dealt with each problem individually. It was a great opportunity for us to check the quality of our product and exchange ideas and find ways to improve. Talking about problems with the shoulder area. Coach Kawamura's approach to the problem area. Next, experimenting with what happens to the inner muscles when strain is put on the outer muscles. The experiment showed that the inner muscles have become weak. The inner muscles can be strengthened by trainning with ipponba-geta. Here is an example of using ipponba-geta for the upper body. T-FOOT members check a custom made set of T-FOOT sandals. Coach Kawamura explained to us what parts of the foot are used when running and so on. Kobayashi
